Today is the last day of the month and also the last day of the year 2010. Going by my commitment of writing at least one article a month, I’d only 2 hours left and I was thinking about what to write? Although I had a lot of topics flashing through my head but I just didn’t got the time to pen them down and publish.
In a nutshell, I have some good news that I embark to new heights in my career. But alas that I had to leave Mumbai which in true sense had became “Mumbai Meri Jaan” meaning Mumbai My Life, but again the good part is I have moved back to Delhi to my family. It is a great feeling. I’ve made some good friends in Mumbai which I’ll cherish till I perish. Now after a tribute to my stay in Mumbai, coming to the main topic – The New Year Celebration.
The face of new age is so different from yesterdays. Our ways of celebration has undergone a technological and emotional shift to come to its present form. Earlier our mode of celebration was close knit family gathering, having special dinner menu prepared and served with love by our beloved Moms. After having a sumptuous meal, we all used to get a comfortable and cosy place and waited anxiously for the special New Year program to start on Door Darshan, our special moment to watch so many Actors and Actresses perform and talk and waited for them to wish us a Happy New Year. With the advent of Cable TV, Door Darshan lost its shine but our basic instinct remained the same until recent years.
In last few years, the economy and technology has taken such a giant leap that our ways of living has changed drastically. Close knit family means Nuclear family. People have less time and much lesser physical presence now.
Why I am saying this? The biggest reason can be found in my article. Here I am writing articles about New Year rather than celebrating. It is not because I don’t want to but I am too absorbed now with my own life and worries that I don’t care for yet another year. I didn’t had goals earlier so a coming year was new for me. Now my New Year is shifted to Fiscal Year –> April – March. December and January doesn’t offer me much. How come it’s a New Year? My Performance review is always set till March. I now take my resolution after my appraisal is announced and not in January.
But even while I write this, I want all the free spirits to bestow their blessings upon the world and ask you to celebrate each day with same valour and vigour and be good and do good and last but not the least please don’t forget to wish your dear ones your good wishes and take blessing from your elder and give love to your youngers.
Have a Happy New Year and a prosperous life ahead.
