Another season of IPL comes to an end with a bang. With lots of controversies surrounding it, this year’s IPL was already dubbed as a failure due to less local connect, elections, strategy time-out etc. But, for India and Indians, where cricket is a religion, moving of IPL on foreign grounds didn’t dither us from enjoying it. We made it a hit all the way long.
This IPL season saw a great turnaround of events. While the last year performers had a steady start, team like Deccan Chargers, which was considered as the best team last year but didn’t perform to the mark started off with a bang this time and showed a keen interest in winning this year’s trophy.
While a lot happened on and off the field, the players made the tournament a must watch, with the senior players like Mathew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Anil Kumble giving the youngsters a run for their money. But many a young lot also showed their worth in the game, with Rohit Sharma, Manish Pandey, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik and the likes performing their part with valor and vigor.
However, the turmoil in Kolkata Knight Riders team was a turnoff. Their internal conflicts, lack of understanding, the new strategic captaincy change, all showed a weak and downtick team. And to rub salt to their wound, a controversial blog appeared on net, the blogger claiming to be a member of KKR squad and giving an inside story of dressing room. The authenticity of the blog is uncertain but it sure acted as fuel to flames, which burned down the KKR to ashes.
In all, this year IPL was a treat to watch with the twisty league matches and interesting semifinals leading to a great final.
